Archaeological Observation at St Mary’s Church Tysoe 2006

Published by: Warwickshire Museum Field Services.
“Archaeological observation was carried out at St Mary’s Church, Tysoe, during construction of a toilet and utility area at the west end of the nave and the excavation of the associated service trenches. The work showed that important archaeological remains survive just below the present floor. A previously unsuspected foundation was found, interpreted as an early west tower replaced when the nave was extended in the mid to late 12th century. The evidence also suggests that, contrary to the hypothesis in the Victoria County History, the original north wall of the church was on the line of the present north wall of the nave rather than to the south of it.”

Archaeological Survey of The Manor Grounds 2014

Published by Polyolbion Archaeology.
“On Thursday July 17th 2014 a preliminary site visit was made to Tysoe Manor, Warwickshire at the invitation of the land-owner. During the course of this visit a visual inspection was made of a variety of earthwork features in the garden. The results of some recent geophysics work were also discussed and a brief examination of exposed soil around the garden was undertaken. On Wednesday July 23rd. and Friday August 1st. further visits were made to survey and to draw measured profiles of the earthworks.”
