The Tysoe Church Restoration Fund

It’s more affectionately known as ‘The Church 200 Club’, but the longer official title describes its purpose: to contribute to the maintenance and restoration of the fabric of the church building.

It’s not used for the day-to-day running of the church; it is purely there to keep our beautiful Grade One listed Church building in good working order.

Money from members provides an annual pot of £1,500 for monthly prizes; the remainder goes into a fund that slowly builds up to carry out priority repairs. Each December, we host a party in the Village Hall to express our gratitude to our members.

The party is paid for by the raffle and donations on the night; no expenses are drawn from the fund.

The fund was able to contribute £21,000 towards the highly successful renovation project, which was completed in 2022. It was a huge project and included replacing stonework across the full height of the tower, restoring all four clock faces, and repairing rot in the tower roof.

More recent projects include repairs to the church clock and an emergency roof repair to the vestry.

Each November, we will start collecting subscriptions for the following year’s 200 Club. The Club is open to everybody, including those who may never go to church but recognize the value of this 900-year-old, extraordinary building to the village of Tysoe.

There are 200 tickets, almost all of which will be taken by regular subscribers, but we generally have a few available.

If you would like to register your interest for a ticket for next year, please contact Percy Sewell on 01295 680210
