Tysoe Lunch Club

The Tysoe Lunch Club is a long established and highly valued village institution, started by Jean and Don Harvey and team way back in the early 1970s and was hosted in the Methodist Chapel with its then very modern cooking facilities.

Just as it was from launch, it is non-denominational, with no age restriction and is now being held at the Village Hall on the first Friday of the month at 1pm.

Their legacy has lasted over 40 years and continues today through the small group of volunteers led by Nicola Rexton, who strive to provide a once-a-month meal for villagers who seek companionship and the opportunity to meet like-minded folk in a warm, friendly, social environment.

In 2022 the Lunch Club moved to the Village Hall from the Methodist Hall when the chapel closed. Sadly, Tysoe’ s butcher, the original meat supplier, has closed, and the team misses Gerald Hart’ s delicious, organic vegetables.

There are, however, still donations from the Community Orchard, making sure fresh fruit is on the menu as often as possible.

Whilst a meal back in the earlier days was provided for just £ 2.50 there are some things that have changed, one of which is the suggested contribution, which now stands at £5.

Still great value – and always enjoyed by everyone who attends, as can be seen below.

Lunch Club would not be able to run without a dedicated group of volunteers, including:

Sally Walton, Margaret Hunter, Gill Stewart, Jude Canning, Jackie Thompson, Bridget Burton, Nicola Rexton, Belinda Keep, Irene Beever and Marion Ascott.

The village is grateful for their ongoing support.
