Older residents of the village will find a warm welcome awaits with tea, coffee, biscuits, chat, laughter and even bingo at Tysoe Village Hall every Friday morning from 10am – 12 noon.
Also available are Heather and Paul Dowler who run the Community Hub, providing specialist advice and support for those family carers looking after a loved one who is living with dementia.
Of the six cafés run by Paul and Heather Dowler of talkdementia.uk it is the smallest, not surprising though given the size of our village.
The biggest challenge is encouraging local people with dementia and their family carers to come and access the support and friendship that is available on their doorstep.
Of the many reasons for this the most common is a perceived stigma associated with the condition. In this and other locations run by the team and volunteers at talkdementia.uk they have a good working relationship with the GP surgeries and this two-way communication makes it much easier to encourage people to attend.
Paul and Heather would welcome a few more volunteers in Tysoe, having lost a couple of our regulars, due to other commitments – if you can help – please get in touch.
